A circuit breaker is a switching device that can close, carry, and break the current under normal circuit conditions, and can close, carry, and break the current under abnormal circuit conditions within a specified time. The working principle is that when a short circuit occurs, the magnetic field generated by the high current overcomes the counter force spring, the release device pulls the operating mechanism, and the switch trips instantaneously. When overloaded, the current increases, the heat generation intensifies, and the bimetallic sheet deforms to a certain extent, pushing the mechanism to move. The larger the current, the shorter the action time.
Circuit breakers are generally composed of contact systems, arc extinguishing systems, operating mechanisms, releases, casings, etc. According to their scope of use, they can be divided into high-voltage circuit breakers and low-voltage circuit breakers. The division of high and low voltage boundaries is relatively vague, and circuit breakers above 3KV are generally referred to as high-voltage electrical appliances
