A distribution box is a low-voltage distribution device that assembles switchgear, measuring instruments, protective appliances, and auxiliary equipment into enclosed or semi enclosed metal cabinets or screens according to electrical wiring requirements. During normal operation, the circuit can be connected or disconnected using manual or automatic switches. When there is a malfunction or abnormal operation, use protective appliances to cut off the circuit or give an alarm. By using measuring instruments, various parameters during operation can be displayed, and certain electrical parameters can also be adjusted to prompt or signal deviations from normal working conditions. Commonly used in various power generation, distribution, and substations.
The purpose of the distribution box is to facilitate management and facilitate maintenance in case of circuit failure.
Location of distribution box: usually installed on the wall on one side of the entrance door, at a distance of 1.6 meters or more from the ground. But the distribution box must not be placed on any wall connected to spaces such as bathrooms, as the generated moisture can pose a significant risk of electrical leakage safety accidents. And it is not recommended to install it on load-bearing walls to avoid embedded installation in openings, which may cause damage to the load-bearing steel bars and structural safety of the wall.
Types of distribution boxes: There are two commonly used types of distribution boxes: wooden and iron plate. Nowadays, iron plate is more commonly used.
The devices inside the distribution box: The most important are the main incoming switch, and the air switch and leakage protection switch are two common types of incoming switches. The function of the air switch is to detect high-power electrical appliances and prevent fires caused by overloaded operation of wires; The function of the leakage protection switch is to prevent leakage and ensure personal safety.
Installation of distribution box: During decoration, it is recommended to use air switch as the main switch to control the main circuit, and leakage protection switch as the branch circuit switch to control sockets, kitchen and bathroom appliances, lighting, etc.
