Where do transformer failures usually occur?
Compared with other electrical equipment, transformers rarely fail because they do not have rotating parts like motors, and their components are immersed in oil. However, accidents are prone to occur if they are not properly operated or maintained. Generally, transformer failures occur in components such as windings, cores, bushings, tap switches, and oil tanks. Oil leakage and heating of wire joints are common.
What to do after the transformer trips automatically?
When the transformer trips automatically. If there is a spare transformer, the spare should be put into operation to check the cause of the automatic trip. If there is no spare, check what kind of protection action the transformer tripped and what external phenomenon occurred when the transformer tripped. If the inspection proves that the transformer tripped not due to internal faults, but due to overload, external short circuit or secondary circuit fault of the protection device, it can be put into operation without internal inspection. If there is a fault, it will be eliminated before power is supplied.
