Classification Of Current Transformers Based On Principles

1. Electromagnetic current transformer: A current transformer that achieves current transformation based on the principle of electromagnetic induction.
2. Electronic current transformer:
For example, an optical current transformer refers to the use of optical devices as the measured current sensor, which are composed of optical glass, all fiber optics, etc.
(2) Hollow coil current transformer. Also known as Rogowski coil current transformer. Hollow coils are often made by uniformly winding enameled wires on a circular skeleton, which is made of non ferromagnetic materials such as plastic and ceramics. Their relative permeability is the same as that of air, which is a significant feature that distinguishes hollow coils from current transformers with iron cores.
(3) Iron core coil type low power current transformer (LPCT). It is a development of traditional electromagnetic current transformers. It is designed with high impedance resistance, and its saturation characteristics are improved at very high primary currents, expanding the measurement range and reducing power consumption. It can accurately measure overcurrent and full offset short-circuit currents up to short-circuit currents without saturation. The measurement and protection can share an iron core coil type low-power current transformer, whose output is a voltage signal.
